Join us for a comprehensive exploration of the world of color in filmmaking. In this workshop, we will delve into the fundamentals of Video Data, the art and science of color grading, and the cultural meanings behind color choices in film. Our topics include:

Day 1

Foundations & Setup

The workshop begins with introductions and an overview of the course objectives, emphasizing the role of color grading in storytelling. Participants will learn about the technical setup of a power workstation, covering essential hardware (GPU, CPU, RAM) and optimizing software like DaVinci Resolve and Adobe Premiere Pro.

Day 2

Understanding Video Data & Color Science

This day covers key technical concepts, including color spaces (Rec.709, DCI-P3, HDR), gamma curves, bit depth, and the differences between RAW and compressed formats. Participants will learn to maintain color consistency across devices and work with video scopes (waveform, vector scope, RGB parade) for precise monitoring. A hands-on session reinforces these concepts by analyzing various footage types and setting up color-managed workflows.

Day 3

Basics of Color Grading & Creative Techniques

Participants will dive into primary corrections (exposure, white balance, contrast) and secondary adjustments using power windows and qualifiers. The session introduces node-based workflows, shot matching, and creative techniques like LUTs and cinematic looks. A discussion on color psychology explores how color influences mood and storytelling. The day ends with case studies from professional projects to illustrate real-world applications.

Focusing  on hands-on exercises where participants apply their skills to sample footage.

Practical Application & Certification

One-on-one feedback sessions provide personalized guidance, while an open Q&A addresses advanced topics. The workshop concludes with the distribution of completion certificates and a networking session to foster future collaborations.
