Schedule
Day 1
Foundations & Setup
Weekend 1
The workshop begins with introductions and an overview of the course objectives, emphasizing the role of color grading in storytelling. Participants will learn about the technical setup of a power workstation, covering essential hardware (GPU, CPU, RAM) and optimizing software like DaVinci Resolve and Adobe Premiere Pro.
Day 2
Understanding Video Data & Color Science
Weekend 1
This day covers key technical concepts, including color spaces (Rec.709, DCI-P3, HDR), gamma curves, bit depth, and the differences between RAW and compressed formats. Participants will learn to maintain color consistency across devices and work with video scopes (waveform, vector scope, RGB parade) for precise monitoring. A hands-on session reinforces these concepts by analyzing various footage types and setting up color-managed workflows.
Day 3
Basics of Color Grading & Creative Techniques
Weekend 2
Participants will dive into primary corrections (exposure, white balance, contrast) and secondary adjustments using power windows and qualifiers. The session introduces node-based workflows, shot matching, and creative techniques like LUTs and cinematic looks. A discussion on color psychology explores how color influences mood and storytelling. The day ends with case studies from professional projects to illustrate real-world applications.
Day 4
Practical Application & Certification
Weekend 2
The final day focuses on hands-on exercises where participants apply their skills to sample footage. One-on-one feedback sessions provide personalized guidance, while an open Q&A addresses advanced topics.
